One company, established in 1922. 1927, its operations are moving towards the manufacture of cars at that particular body give birth, in 1931, the legendary SS1 - a car which lays the foundation for the first true Jaguar. The range of models and improving widening, it needs a name that reflects both its speed, its power and its lines profiled. So, in 1935 the name Jaguar made its appearance.
At the Salon de l'Auto 1948, launches its new Jaguar XK120 - with an engine producing an output of 160 horsepower, unheard of for 'time - that would become one of the greatest sports cars of all time.
Jaguar's reputation could not be better. Its range includes a superb then-size sedan and a great sports car, but the large-scale production of a smaller car is necessary. Also in 1955, Jaguar is investing one million pounds in the design and development of the Jaguar 2.4 designed to complement its line.
The experience of its cars at Le Mans in 1950 allows Jaguar to realize that their vehicles have the ability and strength to succeed in competition. It eventually convince Lyons a car must be built solely for the competition, hence the birth of XK120C, more generally known as C-TYPE. Three C-types have been completed in time to participate in the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1951. The Jaguar is still quite | unknown, but the C-type, led by Peter Walker and Peter Whitehead, left behind a remarkable victory for the first output of the model. At the end of this decade, Jaguar C-type and D-type following, won a total of five victories at the 24 hours of Le Mans.
In 60 years, Jaguar has to make a great leap forward. Introduced in 1961, the E-type arrived at point. Like the XK120 in 1948, it caused a sensation, capturing perfectly the spirit of the time. A true emblem of the automotive world and perhaps the sports car the most famous of all time, the Jaguar E-type was built at about 70000 copies in the course of thirteen years.
In 1968, the XJ6 is emerging. This is undoubtedly the best of all the praise and Jaguar are inevitable.
During the 90 years, Jaguar committed to a programme of modernisation and expansion, which gives rise to the launch of new models XK8 and XKR coupes and convertibles sports, as well as the new S-type sedan sport intermediary providing a Jaguar entry into the new millennium.
